If you're into the view, the shopping and the food, Marina Square is the place to go.
You can walk to see the bright view of the CBD (this country makes working a tourist attraction) or MBS or the Helix Bridge (Fact: it's designed in the shape of a DNA structure and on the floors there are letters G, T, C and A- go figure) and you can take a some sort of a water taxi tour which ends at Clark Quay.
Or you can enjoy the shopping at the malls there. What I have noticed during my stay was the brands are repetitive. You see the same ones everywhere!
Fred Perry, Gucci, Michael Kors, Hermes, 7-Eleven!!! It's the same ones over and over again. Eventually you get used to it.
There's this shop in at the mall, it's called CATALOG and they sell shoes at factory price. (don't worry, they're original)
You get a pair of Polo sneakers at $79 or a normally $340 shoe off at 70%, it's so ridiculous you'd think it's GSS! (GreatSingaporeSale)
There's also a DVD shop that sells old movies, so you see a bunch of Hitchcock or Grace Kelly and some box set movies (Korean Chinese English) and new movies.
Look at the offers. They slashed some of the $13 movies to $6 and the box sets and $10 each. Yes, they too are original.
Hungry yet? Behind the malls are outdoor food outlets selling well, food. Imagine the food place opposite the St. Andrew's church in Bandar, just more lively and bright, cleaner and more beer.
Outlets will tell you if they serve Halal food, so look out.
Finding food in Singapore isn't hard at all, but finding Halal ones can be a challenge.
Even bakeries selling bread can be non-halal as they mix it with rum sometimes.
If you're not too fussy like you'll eat anything as long as you know it doesn't have any alcohol or anything pig-origined, go ahead.
But if you're picky, then look out for eateries that bear the Halal logo.
In Singapore, obtaining a Halal certificate for your shop can be costly, so some eateries don't have them although they sell all Halal ones. So it's really up to you.
And bear in mind that just because they serve alcohol, does not mean your food is not halal.
When in doubt, do ask.
To lookout for: The Cookie Museum
If you ever come across this shop, go on and taste their products. You will be mindblown.
They're basically a cookie shop with exotic flavours.
I had Nasi Lemak and Laksa cookies.
