Away from Orchard

Don't just hang around Orchard Rd when you're here and that's for several reasons:
i) It's a tourist area so prices are naturally higher
ii) The 2.2 km stretch is filled with  branded items, some you really don't need like buying a watch when a house is of equal price (I'm not even kidding)

An example would be Paragon. The place is filled branded boutiques and it's just so expensive, their FLOORS smell good.
You can smell it when you pass by.

I went to Bugis just now (take the 7 infront of Tang's and stop after Plaza Singapura or take the NS line from Orchard Station to Bugis Junction) and the place is super cool. The Peranakan styled market is filled with kiosks and shops and restaurants. Opposite it is a retail store so you can get stuff from electronics to bags here.
